Minutes. of meeting of January 14, 1998
The regular meeting of the Beautification Committee was held
on Wednesday, January 14, 1998, in the City Hall Conference
Room. Present were: June Morris, Chairperson, Gloria Vaughn,
Barbara Bonner, Ron Schiebler, City Gardener, and guest JoAnn
Waddill. Ms. Waddill, a Neptune Beach resident had asked to
attend the meeting as an observer in the hopes of obtaining
ideas for the formation of a similar group in Neptune Beach.
The meeting was called to order by June Morris at 7:35 PM and
a motion was made by Barbara Bonner to approve the minutes as
submitted. Gloria Vaughn seconded and the motion carried.
The holiday luminaries event and sales were discussed. It was
reported that approximately 500 kits were sold. This should
leave a balance of 250 kits "on-hand" for this seasons event.
Various ideas for increasing sales were mentioned and in-
clude more advance advertising, and members taking a supply
to sell from their homes with their names and telephone num-
bers being published so that prospective customers could get
in touch, especially after office hours and on weekends.
Discussion on the Arbor Day observance was tabled until the
next meeting. It was suggested that large red bows on the
"Welcome to Atlantic Beach" signs could be used for next
years holiday season.
Ron reported on his landscaping projects, noting that all
were doing well, and the Selves Norte project looked "great".
Discussion and/or action on the alternative for the City
Greenhouse and for the Spring Bright Spots tour were deferred
until the next meeting,
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned by June
at 8:10 PM.
