COMMITTEE MEETING
The Atlantic Beach Beautification Committee met on
tdednesday, January 8, 1990 at 8:20 PM in the Commission
Chambers, City Ball. The delayed beginning time of
the meeting was due to a Special Meeting of the Commiss-
ion with interested parties which was being held in
the Chambers of the Section H issue..
Present for the meeting *aere: Jody Fprd, Chairman,
Mayor William Gulliford, Larry Figart of the Division
of Forestry, Lyman Fletcher, Susan Newman, Barbara
Bonner, Dezmond Waters, Chris Blanchard, Posey Jenkins,
Pat Pillmor•e, Larry Weller, Pose McCall, and Carl
4Jalker, Beautification Coordinator.
The meeting was opened t•~ith comments by the Mayor, with
group discussion, on the subjects of signage and future
plans on the possibility of the bricking of the shopp~-
ing area of Atlantic Blvd., east of AlA/Third Street.
The primary business for the Committee was on the pro-
posed revisions and/or changes to the recently enacted
Tree Ordinance. Lyman Fletcher, Chairman of the sub-
committee for Ordinance~Study presented a Draft of the
proposed recommended changes which had been made by
the sub-committee. Copies of the. Draft were distributed
to those }resent and each proposed revision was discu-
ssed. Questions, comments and further recommendations
were made by the group. In addition to the changes pre-
sented by rir. Fletcher, various members discussed other
additions or deletions to the ordinance. These were noted
for further revisions prior to the formal introduction
of the. changes to the City Commissioners:
The structure of the Tree Conservation Board, as called
for by the present ordinance, was discussed at some
length and the Mayor requested that he be given, by the
Committee, a listing of names recamme.nded for that Board.
Chairman Ford compiled the list with suggestions being
made by several members for the appointment.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at
10:25 PM. •
