Minutes of Meeting March 11, 1998
The Beautification Committee met Wednesday March 11, 1998 in the Conference room at the
Atlantic Beach City Hall. Members attending were: June Morris Chairperson, Steve Guenther,
Gloria Vough, Pamela Fitgwilliams and Ron Schiebler City Gardner.
The Chairperson June Morris called the meeting to order at 7:36P.M. The minutes of the
February 11th, meeting was approved with no corrections or deletions.
June Morns, reported on the `Bright Spots Tour." The date: for the tour is set for May 9th and
10th with directional maps being available at the City Hall and Adele Grage Community Center on
Friday afternoon May 8th.
It was discussed that each member would be responsible for contacting their selection and
providing a short narrative of the home/business they selected and why. The committee member
would also be responsible for putting out and removing the designation flag. Presently these areas
have bee assigned:
June Morris - Selva Links & Linkside, Steve Guenther - Sea Turtle at 9th between the Ocean and
Seminole Rd., Pamela - Fitzwilliams 10th St. at 20th St. between the Ocean and Seminole Rd.,
Gloria Vaughn -Royal Palm area and Ron Schiebler everything West of Mayport rd.
Arbor Day Plans have been deferred to a later date. Due to Mrs Hopson being unable to attend to
nights meeting.
Ron reported on the area's throughout the city which landscaping has been completed or is being
worked on. All flower beds are looking good and the new spring's flowers are now on order.
The new flower beds installed at East Coast and Atlantic Blvd. are now completed.
The Selva Marina project is in its last stages of completion with only the mulching remaining to be
finished.
Ron reported the plans for the 8th. St. beach access is complete and the E.P.A. has issued a field
permit. The next step will be to pass the plans to the City Manger for his approval, then to Mrs.
LaVake for the bidding process.
Preliminary plansldiscussion for 98-99 has been deferred to a later date.
