Carl Walker opened the meeting due to the absence of Chairman Ford, and
mentioned that since this was a special meeting, that the regular
scheduled meeting would be held on April 11, 1990 as planned. He briefly
talked about the Yard of The Month and said that once again it was time
to nominate someone. He mentioned a yard located or. Ocean Blvd. that
other members had also noticed and agreed that this was a good choice.
At this time Carl asked Ca

The estimated cost of the 19th Street work Carolyn stated would cost
$65,000.00, compared to the cost of the 18th Street which would be
$47,000.00. She also stated that the area would have Miami Curbs &
Gutters, which are the rolled curb which would make it convenient for
tires to be be able to roll over and are also much more attractive.
The committee then commented on a sprinkler system and Carolyn said that
she had not included it in the initial cost. She said that a system was
usually one third of the Landscaping cost which would be $5,000.00. Mayor
Gulliford mentioned that some of the work such as sidewalks, paving and
striping was something he felt the state would absorb.
At this time members volunteered to be on a sub-committee that would work
on the following:
1. Lighting
2. Plants & Landscape
3. Trash receptacles
4. Concrete

Further discussion on the access ways included parking and members asked
if the loss of space would be great. Mayor Gulliford said he felt that it
would not be much and it would be very close to what it is now and it
also will allow for 2 way traffic.
Carolyn Woods also commented on some brochures she will bring in next
meeting on waste receptacles. She said they were attractive and made with
treated wood and she felt this would be the best for the area.
The sub-committee briefly met for a few minutes and with no further
discussion the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m. with the next meeting
date being set for April 11th, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.
