Minutes of June 19 , 1995
The Board held its regular meeting on Monday , June 19 , in the
Commission Chambers. Present were :
Hope Van Nortwick , Chairman Jim Pelkey
Rick Beaver Mae Jones
Tom Frohne
Staff : George Worley , Designee Carl Walker, Coordinator
The meeting was called to order at 7 : 30 PM by Hope Van Nort-
wick , Chairman , in the City Commission Chambers .
The first item of business was Board review and consideration
for tree removal at Lot # 8 , Sevilla Gardens, Unit # 1 . The
applicant, David Steve , was present for the discussion .
The application proposed removal of 4 palm trees and 1 oak
tree with a 42" DBH . Hope Van Nortwick , who had visited the
site , advised that the oak was in a diseased condition and
hollow at the base . This was confirmed by Mr. Steve and by
other Board members who had also been to the property .
After a brief discussion , Jim Pelkey made a motion to accept
the application , as proposed . Rick Beaver seconded and the
motion passed unanimously .
Hope Van Nortwick reported on the progress of the Tree Ordi-
nance Committee and explained specific changes which were
being discussed or proposed. A rough draft of the ordinance ,
with some proposed changes , was also distributed to the Board
members . Hope advised of the areas on which the Committee
members were not presently in agreement. She also mentioned
that part of the revisions presented thus far were patterned
from the Jacksonville tree ordinance .
Board members posed several questions as well as offering
suggestions or comments. It was estimated that the work by
the Committee would be completed in the next few weeks or
by the end of July so that an amended ordinance could be
presented to the City Commission by the end of the summer .
There was no further old business for discussion nor any
reports or announcements made.
Rick Beaver moved to approve the minutes of the last meeting ,
as written . Hope Van Nortwick seconded and the motion car-
ried unanimously .
There was no further business and the meeting was adjourned
at 8 : 15 PM.
