07-07-93 v TREE CONSERVATION BOARD
Minutes of July 7, 1993
The Board met for its regular meeting on Wednesday, July 7,
in the Commission Chambers of City Hall. Present were:
Carolyn Woods, Chairman Thomas Frohne
Hope Van Nortwick
Staff: Carl Walker, Coordinator
The meeting was called to order at 7:40 PM by Carolyn Woods.
The first application for Board review was for property des-
cribed as Lot # 62, Unit # `, Selva Norte. David Willis, the
contractor representing the property owners, was present.
After discussion and verification on two trees that were
flagged on the site for removal, a motion was made by Hope
Van Nortwick to accept the plans with the exception that the
oak tree noted or, the south property line, as marked on the
plan, be saved and the driveway altered to accommodate this
tree. Tom Frohne seconded ; the motion unanimously carried.
Chuck Hardman, builder, and Mrs. Kling, property owner, were
present for Board reconsideration of the application for Lot
# 33, Unit Two, Oceanwalk. This application had been denied
by the Board at the last meeting. Some modification had been
made due to the footprint of the house being moved forward on
the lot from a setback of 35' to 31' 6". Additionally, a re-
vised landscape plan was submitted.
The total number of DBH inches for trees to be removed was
recalculated by the Board members since there was a disagree-
ment on the total figure as computed by Mr. Hardman and by
the Board. The revised figures showed that a total of 274"
were listed for removal according to the modified plan.
The condition of the 30" oak tree in the rear of the lot had
been inspected by Larry Figart, State Urban Forester, as dis-
cussed at the last meeting. Mr. Figart findings were that
the tree was not in a diseased condition, although Mr. Hard-
man reported that two separate tree companies had found the
tree to be unsound.
After further discussion, Hope Van Nortwick made a motion to
not alter the Board' s position, previously taken, of denial
of the application. Tom Frohne seconded and the motion was
passed by a unanimous vote.
