02-01-90 v TREE CONSERVATION BOARD
MINUTES
The newly appointed Tree Conservation Board of the City of
Atlantic Beach met at 7:00 P.M. on February 1, 1990 in the
City Commission Chambers, City Hall.
The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman Dezmond
Waters. Board members present were: Peggy Cornelius, Jim
Pelky, Sandra Sheppard and Carolyn Woods.
The following actions were passed at this first organizational
meeting:
1. Dezmond Waters was elected Chairman.
2. Sandra Sheppard was elected Secretary.
3. Regular meeting dates were set for the third
Monday of each month with special meetings to
be called as needed.
4. Brenda Dockery was officially appointed as the
Board designee with the authority to issue permits
in cases where there are no exceptions to the
Ordinance. Any exceptions shall be presented to
the Board for action.
Discussion followed as to interpretation of the Tree Ordinance
by each Board member. Questions arose as to who must prepare
the tree survey (the applicant or a professional surveyor?) ,
if a landscape architect or forester should be hired in addit-
ion to the surveyor to determine the age or condition of a
tree, etc. No decisions were reached pending additional dis-
cussion.
The next meeting was set for February 19, 1990 for the purpose
of continued organization. With no further business, the
meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
