TREE CONSERVATION BOARD
April 10, 2002
A regular meeting of the Tree Conservation Board was held Wednesday, Apri110, 2002, in the City
Hall Conference Room. Present were Barbara Mears, William Permenter, Carol Rockwood, Maureen
Shaughnessy, Building Official Don Ford and Susan Dunham.
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m.
2. Swearing-In of New Members
The City Clerk, Maureen King, swore in William Permenter.
3. Recognition of Visitors
None.
4. Approval of Minutes of Meeting of March 26, 2002
The following corrections were made to the Minutes of March 26, 2002:
1. Call to Order: change "11:07 p.m." to "11:07 a.m."
7. Adjournment: change "11:58 p.m." to "11:58 a.m."
A motion was made by Board Member Shaughnessy, seconded by Board Member Rockwood
and unanimously carried to approve the Minutes of the Tree Conservation Board meeting of
,""'~ March 26, 2002, as amended.
5. Old Business
None.
6. New Business
A. Tree Removal Applications:
1) 160 Mayport Road: Board Member Mears advised that the subject tree is interfering with the
signage and the building. The Board determined that the tree measured 18". Board Member Mears
suggested that a recommendation be made to plant the new replacement tree in a more visible location
rather than that of the one currently proposed.
A motion was made by Board Member Mears, seconded by Board Member Shaughnessy and
unanimously carried to approve the application and to direct the Building Official to issue a
permit for the removal of 18" of oak to be replaced with 9" of new oak on site. The Board
recommended that the owner consider planting the new tree in the unpaved area in the
southeast corner of Lot 2 adjacent to the fence.
7. Reborts and Announcements
A. Historical Tree Ordinance: Don Ford advised that one person from this Board must sit on the
Historical Tree Ordinance sub-committee. The Board suggested the following sub-committee
members: Richard Bell, Judith Jacobson, Mae Jones, Barbara Mears and Maureen Shaughnessy. It
was suggested to hold the first meeting on Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at 6:00 p.m. Building Official
Ford stated that he would contact Richard Bell, Judith Jacobson and Mae Jones to determine their

Building Official Ford advised the Board that the trees on Seminole Road/Atlantic Boulevard are
going to be planted within two weeks.
8. Adiournment
There being no other business or discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 7:37 p.m.
