Adjournment 41111 If any person decides to appeal any decision made by the Tree Conservation Board at the above meeting, he will need a record of the proceedings, and for such purpose, may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record shall include the testimony of evidence upon which appeal is to be based. • MINUTES OF TREE CONSERVATION BOARD June 18, 2001 A regular meeting of the Tree Conservation Board was held Monday, June 18, 2001, in the City Hall Commission Chambers. Present were Chairperson Mae Jones, Barbara Mears, Judith Jacobson, Building Official Don Ford and Susan Dunham. 1. Call to Order Chairperson Jones called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m. 2. Recognition of Visitors None. 3. Approval of Minutes of Meeting of June 4, 2001 A motion was made by Board Member Jacobson, seconded by Board Member Mears and unanimously carried to approve the Minutes of the Tree Conservation Board Meeting of June 4, 2001. 4.A. Old Business/Tree Removal Applications 1) None. • S.A. New Business/Tree Removal Applications: 1) Northwest Corner of Beach Avenue and 20th Street: Mr. Jay Devine introduced himself and stated that he is a landscape architect representing the owner with regard to this application. Mr. Devine stated that he would like to remove 40"of oak, plant 20"of oak, remove 45"of other trees and plant magnolias and yaupon holly trees. Board Member Mears expressed concern with regard to the grading of the lot and the affect it will have on the trees that will stay on the property. Mr. Devine responded that the trees in the area against the building marked"Proposed Masonry Tree Wells"will be in a hole and will be a challenge to save. However,he stated that the owner is willing to try. Building Official Ford clarified questions raised with regard to setback lines. The Board determined that several trees to be removed were located in the City right-of-way. A motion was made by Board Member Jacobson, seconded by Board Member Mears and unanimously carried to approve the application and to direct Building Official Ford to issue a permit for the removal of 38" of oak to be mitigated by preserving 17" of oak on site and planting 4" of new oak on site; 45" of hardwood to be mitigated by planting 23" of hardwood on site; and 10" of palm to be mitigated by planting 5" of palm on site. A motion was made by Board Member Mears, seconded by Board Member Jacobson and unanimously carried to recommend to the Public Works Department that the removal of 34" of palm in the City right-of-way be replaced with 17" of palm in the City right-of-way. 6. Reports and Announcements A. Progress Report on Historical Tree Preservation Ordinance: Building Official Ford advised that the changes to the draft Historical Tree Preservation Ordinance have been made. Chairperson Jones • stated that she would attempt to locate the pictures that she took of the tree colonnades. • ......4. a. . Minutes of Tree Conservation Board June 18, 2001 Page 2 • Building Official Ford stated that Paul Nichols is ready for the Tree Conservation Board to re-schedule their visit to Hidden Paradise. The Board scheduled this meeting for Saturday, July 14, at 8:00 a.m. Chairperson Jones advised that she would not be able to attend the July 2 Tree Conservation Board meeting. She also stated that she is pleased that the Tree Conservation Board members no longer have to file financial disclosure forms. 7.
