01-06-92 v TREE CONSERVATION BOARD Minutes of Meeting of January 6, 1992 The regular meeting of the Board was held Monday, January 6, 1992 in the Commission Chambers, City Hall. Present were: Carolyn Woods, Chairman Sandra Sheppard Tom Frohne John Weldon, Jr. Jim Pelkey Carl Walker, Coordinator George Worley, Designee Guests: K. Hartwig, D. Boyer, R. Bell, D. Russell The Meeting was called to order by Carolyn at 7:35 pm. The first application for consideration covered property at 1721 Beach Avenue calling for removal of a total of 9 trees. Mr. Hartwig, Landscape Architect for the project was in att- endence to discuss the plans with the Board. Mr. Hartwig ad- vised that no less than 9 trees would be replaced on the lot and that it was his suggestion to the owners that apx. 18 trees, in total, be replanted on the property. John Weldon moved that the plan be accepted, as proposed. Jim Pelkey seconded and discussion followed. The plans call for a total of 32" of hardwood trees to be removed and Mr. Hartwig agreed to replace a portion of this amount with other hard- wood trees. John Weldon amended the motion to add that a total of 16" of hardwood trees, consisting of 3"-4" DBH trees be replaced with placement on the lot at the contractor' s discretion. Torn Frohne seconded the amended motion which passed unanimously. Mr. Boyer, architect, and Mr. Bell, contractor, were present for review of the application covering removal of 16 palms at Lot #39, N. At 1. Bch. , for construct ion of a new residence. The plans call for 8 palms to be relocated on the property. After discussion, a mot ion was made by John Weldon to approve the plan and that the count of trees for removal be increased to include 1 bay tree at the southern perimeter of the lot and that the contractor agree to attempt to save that tree.
