Adjournment • If any person decides to appeal any decision made by the Tree Conservation Board at the above meeting, he will need a record of the proceedings, and for such purpose,may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made,which record shall include the testimony of evidence upon which appeal is to be based. MINUTES OF TREE CONSERVATION BOARD III March 19, 2001 A regular meeting of the Tree Conservation Board was held Monday, March 19, 2001, in the City Hall Commission Chambers. Present were Mae Jones, Chairperson, Camille Hunter, Barbara Mears, Building Official Don Ford and Susan Dunham. 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Jones at 7:30 p.m. 2. Recognition of Visitors None. 3. Approval of Minutes of Meeting of March 5, 2001 A motion was made by Board Member Mears, seconded by Board Member Hunter and unanimously carried to approve the Minutes of the Tree Conservation Board Meeting of March 5, 2001. 4. A. Old Business/Tree Removal Applications None. 5.A. New Business/Tree Removal Applications 1) Lot 1,Block 187, Section H: The applicant was not present to address this application. Chairperson Jones requested that Building Official Ford advise the applicant that, in the future, he provide the size of the trees on the site plan. Chairperson Jones advised that there were two multi-trunk trees on the lot that were • not identified on the site plan. She further stated that one of the multi-trunk trees was in the middle of the lot and it measured 20." A motion was made by Board Member Hunter, seconded by Board Member Mears and unanimously carried to approve the application and to direct Building Official Ford to issue a permit to accept the application as submitted with the modification that there is a multi-trunk tree in the center grouping that measures 20" that will require mitigation. The trees to be removed are indicated by "x" in the survey and the trees to be used for mitigation are indicated by "[]" in the survey. A total of twenty trees are being used for mitigation and must be preserved on site for a minimum of one year. 2)Lot 2, Block 187, Section H: The applicant was not present to address this application. Chairperson Jones advised that the grouping of trees numbered 40, 41, 42 and 43 is a multi-trunk tree. A motion was made by Board Member Hunter, seconded by Board Member Mears and unanimously carried to approve the application and to direct Building Official Ford to issue a permit to accept the application as presented and to request that the Building Official talk to the applicant to make him aware of the fact that multi-trunk trees need to be identified as such and the trunk sizes need to be added together at the diameter at the split and to present them as individual trees in terms of whether or not it needs mitigation. 6. Reports and Announcements Building Official Ford stated that the historical tree survey would be ready next week. • - Minutes of Tree Conservation Board 'M'arch 19,2001 Page 2 Building Official Ford also stated that he had not located a reference book for trees for the Board members. • Board Member Hunter said that she would bring books that would assist Board members in tree identification. Board Member Hunter distributed a"Recommended Tree List"and a"Not Recommended for Mitigation" list. She advised that the list indicates if the trees are native,evergreen or deciduous, approximate mature tree height, salt tolerance and moisture needs and if there is something unusual about the tree, i.e.,bears fruit, berries,etc. Board Member Hunter requested that this list be reviewed by all Board members and discussed at the next Tree Conservation Board meeting. Board Member Hunter advised that the Beaches tree sale is scheduled for March 31 at Town Center. 7.
