• Minutes of meeting of June 15, 1998
The Board held meeting on Monday June 15,1998 at City Hall. Present were:
Mae Jones, Chairman Mary Emerson-Smith
Rick Bell Dennis Sparks
Staff: George Worley, Community Development Director
The meeting was called to order at 7:35 PM by the Chairman.
3.A.2. Tree Removal on Lot 6, Block 3, Subdivision "A". This item was taken out of order
because no applicant was in attendance for item 3.A.1. Charles Blumstein introduced himself to
the Board and briefly explained the application. He advised the Board that he intended to
relocate a 14" and 16" palms and a 8" magnolia tree within the lot and to only remove the 7"
cherry laurel (mis-identified as a mulberry) which appears to be diseased. After some
discussion Rick Bell moved to approve the removal of the 7" diseased cherry laurel and the
relocation of the magnolia and two palms with no additional mitigation. Dennis Sparks
seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
03.A.1. Tree Removal at 45 West 6th Street. There was no applicant in attendance for this item.
The Board reviewed the submitted application, noting three pine trees marked for removal
totaling 40". After some discussion about the commercial nature of the site the board
determined that 20" of hardwood replacement would be necessary. Rick Bell moved to approve
the application as submitted with 20" of hardwood mitigation required. Dennis Sparks seconded
the motion which passed unanimously.
4. Reports & Announcements.
Staff reported that no action had occurred to-date on the mitigation of the 30" oak tree at 470
Orchid Street. Staff reported that they were in contact with the owner and that she was
negotiating the removal of the dead tree with Pulte Home Corporation.
As a follow up to its discussion of the problems associated with exotic vegetation at the last
meeting, The Board requested Dennis Sparks to obtain a list of exotic vegetation for the Boards
information.
The Board approved the Minutes of the June 1, 1998 meeting and the meeting was adjourned
