06-01-92 v TREE CONSERVATION BOARD Minutes of Meeting of June 1, 1992 The Board met for its regular meeting on Monday, June 1, in the Commission Chambers, City Hall. Present were: Jim Pelkey Hope Van Nortwick John Weldon, Jr. George Worley, Designee Guests: Mr. Taylor and Mr. Gaulding The meeting was called to order at 7:35 pm by John Weldon, acting Chairman in the absence of Carolyn Woods. The first application for consideration was for property described as Lot # 690, Section # 3, Saltair subdivision. Mr. Taylor, developer, was present for the Board' s review of the plans. Discussion took place regarding the placement of the driveway and the possibility of saving one 23" pine tree. Jim Pelkey moved that the plan be accepted, provided that a 5' space be left around the 23" pine in the front for the concrete driveway, and that barricades be put around the triple bay tree in the rear. The motion was seconded by Hope Van Nortwick and unanimously passed. Rusty Gaulding, representing Dean Russell, the contractor, was present for the review of the next two applications. The first covered Lots # 3A and 3B, Section H, Jasmine Street. Discussion took place on the possibility of redesign of the driveway and/or reversing the plans for the duplex. Hope Van Nortwick moved to accept the plan with the provision that the driveway be redesigned in order to save the 16" pine and the 14" oak on the property. Jim Pelkey seconded the motion which passed unanimously. The last application for review was for Lots # 4A and 4B and there was discussion on the movement of the proposed duplex structure in order to save 2 trees, either in front or in the rear of the property. Hope Van Nortwick moved to accept the plans as proposed with the exception that the house be moved to save the 12" oak and the 8" oak located on the south side of the lot and that a 9" oak in the rear of the lot be saved, as well. Jim Pelkey seconded the motion which passed unani- mously. Under old business, John Weldon advised that he had riot yet had the opportunity to review the proposed tree ordinance amendment but would do so prior to the next meeting. The minutes of the last meeting were read and a motion made by Hope Van Nortwick to accept them, as written. The motion was seconded by Jim Pelkey and unanimously passed.
