AGENDA ITEM: FY 2010 -2011 Resurfacing Project Completion

BACKGROUND: In his Follow -up Report at the March 14 Commission Meeting, the
City Manager reported Staff's intention to use remaining Resurfacing Funds.
Staff proposes to piggy back on the City of Jacksonville contract with Duval
Asphalt to pave Begonia Street (West 6" to West 9 OCI 36.7), Lakeview Court
(OCI 41.7), and West 14 Street (Orchid to Main - OCI 42.1). Estimated cost for
all three roads is $45,000.
Paving on Begonia will be an overlay only, no milling. This paving was installed in 1995
as a one inch dust control overlay. Staff proposes to add an additional two
inches of asphalt for a stronger road surface. Lakeview and W. 14 will have a
standard mill & resurface treatment.
BUDGET: This project is funded from the Gas Tax Fund, Account No.
130 - 5002 - 541 -3400; the current resurfacing balance is $54,500.
RECOMMENDATION: Commission approve Staff's proposal to `piggy -back' on COJ's
annual Resurfacing Contract with Duval Asphalt for resurfacing Begonia
Street, Lakeview Court, and West 14 Street, as allowed by the City's
Purchasing Code 2- 336(6).
