Insurance coverage for First Night's planned fund raiser -Ferry boat trip on St. Johns River.
AGENDA ITEM:
None. This Staff Report for Commissioner's update and information.
UPDATE/STATUS:
The City does not have insurance that would cover this event. The City's current insurance only
covers activities aboard water craft that are twenty-six (26) feet or less in length.
We are currently in the process of obtaining quotes on the cost for a special events policy that
would cover his event (1) without alcohol being served and (2) with alcohol being served.
We anticipate that a quote will be available by June 5, 1998.
BACKGROUND:
Information concerning the First Night fund raiser is as follows:
Date: June 27, 1998
Times: Event begins at 7 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m.
Boat trip begins at 8 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.
Place: St. Johns river.
Boat: Ferry named "Blackbeard" which is 170 feet long, 52 feet deep and 62 foot beam.
Pulls 11.7 feet of water (draft) and weights 537 tons.
Passengers: Up to 400.
Owner of Ferry: City of Jacksonville
Operator of Ferry: Hornblowers marine Services, Inc.
