NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR BEACHSIDE CHAT MEETING HELD AT
OCEANSIDE CHURCH OF CHRIST ON TUESDAY, MAY 2, 2006 AT 7:00 PM.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor V+'olfsom
He explained the purpose of the meeting and expressed his intent to hold meetings
quarterly at the same locations but to have the commissioners rotate to the different
meetinglocations. He introduced himself and explained the city's Form of Government.
He explained the City Commissioners' roles and the city's department structure.. Mayor
Wolfson introduced Mayor Pro Tem Waters and he explained his experience on the
Commission. Commissioner Borno was in the audience and was asked to join the table.
Mayor Wolfson proceeded to introduce Commissioner Borno. City Clerk. Bussey was
introduced. She explained the process of the sign -in sheets and comment cards and that,
in many cases, follow-up of these meetings would be necessary and, therefore, the
information from the sign -in sheet and/or comment cards would be utilized and kept on
file.
Major concerns raised by residents were:
• Various safety issues for pedestrians and automobiles crossing Mayport Road
at Plaza
• Paradise Preserve has no buffer- Bestcon should be required to build a fence
• Trash being left or scattered all over streets and driveways
• Police not responding to non -emergency calls
• Speeding throughout Marsh Oaks area — no police patrolling
• Sand at Rose Park has excessive animal waste
• Not enough recreation offered in .Marsh Oaks area
• Parking on the streets
• Mayport Road Median Project may compromise emergency vehicles to access
• Excessive traffic and speeding on Rose Street
• Neighbors and Landlords not keeping property cleaned up
'poise nuisances throughout streets of Marsh Oaks
• Non -complying signs in the Marsh Oaks area
* Excessive stray cats
• Mix of commercial., industrial with residential-- property fronts look
unappealing and many houses appear to be running; businesses

Requests:
• Install "Doggie stations'T in the Marsh Oaks neighborhood
• Clear the streets running West from Mayport Road all the way to the Marsh in
order for citizens to walk down and see the sunset
• Fix the existing sidewalks in Marsh Oaks from slanting
• Voice concern from Atlantic Beach to stop Waimart
Install stop sign at Plaza and Rose Street
• Install "No Parking„ signs on sidewalk side of Rose Street
• District Representation
• Purchase land for playgrounds in Marsh Oaks
• Dog Park
• Allow more time for pedestrians and cars to cross Mayport Road
• Resurface, curbs sidewalks, bike trails on Sailfish
• Bigger, better, brighter and more holiday decorations for Mayport Road,
Atlantic Blvd., Plaza, Sailfish Drive

Have welcome for our military coning in from ships
• Hire individuals with knowledge of soccer, basketball, baseball, etc. and rotate
them to different parks to teach and form teams for fun
• Public swimming pool with water safety lessons
Install traffic light in front of Post Office to slow down traffic
• Change sand at Rose Park to something healthier
• Have police or crossing guards near crosswalks and at bus stops
• Maintain affordable housing at the beaches
• Enforce noise ordinance on highways
• Urban. forester for Atlantic .Blvd & West 15' Street
Other comments made:
• Reception of digital boxes from Comcast have been working poorly during
past week
