Twenty-eight Atlantic Beach Citizens
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Wolfson.
He explained the purpose of the meeting and expressed his intent to hold meetings quarterly at
the same locations but to have the commissioners rotate to the different meeting locations. He
introduced himself and explained the city's Form of Government. He explained the City
Commissioners' roles and the city's department structure. Mayor Wolfson introduced
Commissioner Simmons and she explained her experience on the Commission. Mayor Wolfson
acknowledged that Commissioner Waters was in attendance and invited him to join the table. He
declined. City Clerk Bussey was introduced. She explained the process of the sign -in sheets and
comment cards and that, in many cases, follow-up of these meetings would be necessary and,
therefore, the information from the sign -in sheet and/or comment cards would be utilized and.
kept on file.
Magor concerns raised by residents were:
+ Against Winters' report on Residential Development Guidelines
• Differences in opinions from the "Save Atlantic Beach" group
Support for the "Save Atlantic Beach" group/views
+ Supports the Community Character Workshop process
• Against "McMansions"
• Confusion on the "lot division" issues
+ Against big houses on small lots
• Speed limit on Seminole Road is 25
+ In favor of a public swimming pool
* In favor of districting
Problems with rental properties (multi -family and unrelated residents)
Denial of request for Tree Removal to Tree Conservation Board stopped the plans for
a house
Requests:
+ Increase speed limit on Seminole Road
• Short-term and Long-term rental need to be addressed
+ Regulate the big houses from being placed on small lots
+ Make changes the Winters' Residential Development Guidelines
