Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, August 23, 2011
Adele Grage Cultural Center
6:00 p.m.
Present: Lori Gaglione (chair), Cris Garrard, Jolyn Johnson, Tammy Lally, Wanda Wilson Martin
Hollie Stephens, Jeff Wight with Timmy Johnson (City liaison) and Karen Kempf (recording).
Absent: Carolyn McCarthy, Lynne Roskein
1. Call to order - Chair Lori Gaglione called the meeting to order at 6:02 pm.
2. Approval of June 28, 2011Meeting Minutes - The Committee reviewed the minutes.
Tammy moved to accept the minutes as written and Jolyn seconded the motion. The
minutes were approved.
3. Ongoing Business
a. Events, Updates, Reports
i. Mid -Week Market- Jeff said the market is going well. He is trying to
have social time for UNF students during the market. He is promoting
the market as a "small residential market.”
ii. Songwriters' Concert & Acoustic Night - Timmy reported that
Songwriters' had a full house with great talent and Acoustic Night had
approximately 150 people attending. The City may need to purchase a
music license for events.
iii. Public Art- Jolyn reported that she has had 4 -5 inquires by artists for a
public art project and is also getting a response from volunteers to help
with projects. . She is continuing to put a call out to artists in the
newspapers.
iv. Arts in the Park application - Jolyn and Timmy are finishing the
application and will start application process soon.
v. Tennis Fall Championship - Lori reported that the tennis championship
will be played on November 4, 5. 6.
4. New Business
a. November /December Meeting - the Committee discussed combining the
November and December meetings as they have done in the past. Tammy
moved to combine the Nov. 22 and Dec. 27 meetings and meet on December 6th.
Jolyn seconded the motion and the Committee unanimously agreed on the Dec.
6 date.
b. Summer Meetings - the committee discussed whether to cancel or combine the
June & July CARAC meetings in summer. Tammy moved to cancel the June &
July meetings in 2012 if there is no business for the Committee. Jolyn seconded
the motion and the Committee unanimously agreed. Timmy pointed out that
the Committee can always call a Special Meeting if needed.
5. Other Agenda Items /Announcements
a. Next meeting - Tuesday, September27, 2011, 6 pm, Adele Grage
b. Upcoming events and volunteers - A number of City events are upcoming in fall
and volunteers will be needed. Timmy will send out a list of upcoming events
that will need volunteers. Wanda volunteered to continue to attend the Art
Walk at Adele Grage.
6. Adjournment
a. With no further business, Jolyn moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:26 pm.
Tammy seconded the motion and the meeting was adjourned.
