Our records indicate there are no permits alterations (converting garage into habitable space) on
your property referenced and a Stop Work Order posted on August 16, 2011. The City of
Atlantic Beach Code of Ordinances, Chapter 6, has adopted the Florida Building Code which
requires permits be obtained prior to this type installation to wit:
FLORIDA BUILDING CODE
Section 105 PERMITS
105.1 Required. Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair,
move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge,
alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any required impact resistant coverings, electrical, gas,
mechanical or plumbing system, the installation of which is regulated by this code, or to cause
any such work to be done, shall first make application to the building official and obtain the
required permit.
Please have your State of Florida registered contractor make application, obtain the required
permits and obtain approved inspections alterations/conversion of the garage within ten (10) days
of the receipt of this notice.
A re-inspection will be done on or before November 16,2011. To avoid having this case be
referred to the Code Enforcement Board, all listed violations on this notice must be in
compliance on or before the date established by Atlantic Beach Code Enforcement. The Board
may impose fines up to two hundred fifty ($250.00)per day for continuing violations.
