A;i~IENDIN~G CI-lAI'TER 24 OF THE CODE OF ORDINAI''~ICES, ZONING,
SUBDIVISION AND LAND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS, ARTICLE
II, LANGUAGE AND DEFINITIONS, SEC. 24-17, DEFINITIONS, BY
'"" ADDING A NEW DEFINITION OF SHORT TERM RENTALS; AND
FURTHER AMENDING ARTICLE III, ZONING REGULATIONS, DIV. 4,
GENERAL PROVISIONS AND EXCEPTIONS, BY ADDING A NEW
~"" SUBSECTION (I) UNDER SEC. 24-82, GENERAL RESTRICTIONS UPON
LAND, BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES, TO PROHIBIT SHORT TERM
RENTALS, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City's Comprehensive Plan states in Objective A.1.3. that the City shall
encourage future development and redevelopment which retains the exceptionally high quality of
'"" life and the predominantly residential character of the City of Atlantic Beach, and
WHEREAS, the City's Comprehensive Plan also states in Objective A.1.3.1. that additional
commercial or industrial development shall be permitted only on those lands that are zoned to
permit such development, and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the public health, welfare and safety to restrict any
commercial uses in the residential areas of the City of Atlantic Beach.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY CONIlVIISSION ON BEHALF
OF THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA:
SF,C'TinN 1 _ The Code of Ordinances of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, is hereby
amended by adding a new definition to define short term rentals in Sec. 24-17, Definitions, which
shall read as follows:

amended by adding a new subsection to Sec. 24-82, General restrictions upon land, buildings and
