Dear Mark,
The following factors were used in my calculations (ASCE7 Method 2 Analytical Procedure).
I 1. Wind Speed = 120 mph, Wind Importance Factor (I) = 1
2. Wind Exposure = C , Z = 30 ft.
II Velocity Pressure: qz= .00256(.98) (1) (.85) (120) 2 (1) = 30.7 psf
III AE -21 collectors are certified to above 50 psf by the manufacturer.
IV Using the standard mounting hardware with 4 mounting feet per collector, the
minimum penetration of a 5/16" lag screw should be 2.0 inches.
Using TOGGLER brand, 1/4" toggle bolt anchors (No. BB) is also acceptable.
With this letter, I certify that the above system will be structurally adequate and will satisfy the
FBC 2007 with 2009 Supplements for wind speeds up to 120 MPH.
