Dear Mr . Tompkins :
As a result of a citizen complaint , it has come to our
attention that the following violations of City ordinances may
exist within your property:
1 . Chapter 12 , Section 12-1-7 prohibits outside storage of
miscellaneous items on residential property;
2 . Chapter 24, Section 24-159 regulates the type of home
occupations permitted, i .e. , the repair of machinery and other
items is not allowed;
3 . Chapter 13 , Section 13-11 limiting the number of garage
sales to three per calendar year;
4. The amount and manner in which items are stored within the
garage is creating a potential fire hazard.
I am confident that upon receipt of this notification that you
will take the appropriate steps to rectify the above-mentioned
items . In particular the items pertaining to storage should be a
priority since they directly affect the safety of yourself and your
neighbors .

It has been reported to this office that on the weekend of December 3rd a
garage sale was conducted at your residence at the rear entrance facing
on East Coast Drive.
While the City has no ordinance regulating garage sales, I wish to call
to your attention these are not to be used as commercial enterprises. A
garage sale is exactly what its name implies; a sale of personal items
generally belonging to the residents of the household which are offered
to the general public for sale.
We understand the materials offered at your garage sale were of such
quantity there was a question whether these were personal items which be-
long to you and the members of your household, or whether indeed they had
been acquired from other areas brought to *your home and then offered for
sale. If the later is the case, then that would be unacceptable.
We solicit your cooperation in working with the City and please don't
hesitate to contact this office if you have any questions.
