AGENDA ITEM: Extension of Annual Contract for Orthophosphate

BACKGROUND: On September 14, 2004, bids were opened for the City annual contract for
Orthophosphate for the water treatment system. The low bidder with the product meeting all
~„ specifications was Calciquest, Inc. This firm successfully met all bid requirements.
Calciquest, Inc. has been providing orthophosphate to the City for several years. The cost of
$0.54/pound is reasonable and deliveries are timely.
The City has contacted Calciquest, Inc. regarding an extension of their current contract for one year at
,~ the current rates and they have agreed. As per Bid No. 0304-24: "The City reserves the right to renew
the contract for two additional one-year periods pending a mutual agreement between the City and the
vendor, and a review of the contract performance by vendor for the previous year."
The vendor has agreed to renew his contract, and staff has been pleased with the performance of this
contractor.
BUDGET: Funding is included in the Water Treatment fund under account no. 400-5502-533-5200
in the amount of $7,000.
RECOMMENDATION: Extend the contract for Orthophosphate for one additional year to
Calciquest, Inc. at the contract prices.
