BACKGROUND: The City's contract with American Landcare for palm tree trimming
of the Atlantic Boulevard Medians, Mayport Road Flyover and Town
Center areas was cancelled by the city for non-performance.
There are 577 palm trees (Washingtonian and Sabal) that require
~"" trimming in the~Town Center and Flyover areas. Quotes to accomplish
this work are listed below. A Purchase Order to trim the 50 Medjool
palms in Town Center, Atlantic Boulevard and Flyover areas at $50 per
tree has been issued to All State Tree & Turf, Inc. because of the hazard
and nuisance of falling dates in traffic and pedestrian areas.

The total cost for palm tree trimming will be $14,040 as compared
to the budgeted figure of $12,150.
Staff is preparing bid specs to rebid this contract, however the
trees need to be trimmed as soon as possible.
RECOMMENDATION: Waive the $10,000 bid requirement and approve a one-
time purchase order for trimming to All State Tree & Turf for $11,540.00
BUDGET: Total budget for Fiscal Year 05/06 is $7,100 for Town Center in account
001-5002-541.34-02 and $3,382 for the Mayport Flyover area in account
001-5002-541-34.03. Additional required funds are available in Account
001-5002-541.34-00.
