CRC Minutes 8-29-92MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CHARTER REVISION COMMITTEE HELD IN CITY HALL, 800 S 31 NOTE; ROAD, AT 7:00 PM ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 1992 Q&t PRESENT: COMMISSIONER ADELAIDE R. TUCKER, CHAIR RAYMOND SAL MAN GREGG MCCAULIE RUTH GREGG MARK POPP MAUREEN KING Misetrr (t, 19avidasvn , voice The meeting was called to 'oadby Commissioner Tucker. Following introductions of each of the committee members present, Commissioner Tucker indicated she would like to appoint a co-mchair and recommended Ray Salman for that position. Ruth Gregg moved to accept Ms o Tucker a s recommendation and appoint Ray Salman as co -ch it . The motion was seconded by Gregg McCaul ie and was unanimously approved Ms. Tucker then recommended Maureen King be appointed as secretary. Gregg MbCaulie moved to accept Ms. Tucker's recommendation regarding appointment of secretary. The motion was seconded by Ray Salman and was unanimously approved. Discussion then ensued regarding the frequency of meetings and it was felt the committee should try to meet approx imate ly every two weeks but agreed to schedule meetings as necessary depending on the material to be reviewed or prepared for each meeting. The next meeting was scheduled for Monday, November 16, 1992 at 7:00 PM. Discussion ensued regarding preparation for the next meeting and it was agreed each committee mem:oer should read the present city charter and Florida Statutes, Chapter 166, before the next meeting and be prepared to discuss at that time the best way to proceed. Ray Salman suggested department heads should also read the present city charter and those sections of F.S. Chapter 166 referenced in the charter and submit in writing, recommendations for any changes which they feel would be advantageous to the operation of their departments. It was agreed to draft a memo to the City Manager requesting that this be done. Ms. Tucker stressed the seriousness of the task ahead and pointed out the charter should be a permanent, basic document which would not be subject to frequent changes There being no further discussion, M.S.
