SUBJECT: Follow -up eport
Past Support for Naming the Beaches of Jacksonville as "San Pablo Island " Questions were
raised at the last commission meeting about the effort to name the beach cities of Jacksonville
collectively as "San Pablo Island" and whether or not the Atlantic Beach City Commission has
ever taken a position on this issue before. The City Commission did adopt a resolution
supporting the name on July 27, 2009. A copy of that resolution is attached.
Public Notification for Zoning Changes and Use -by- Exceptions Some questions were raised
at the last meeting about the City's code requirements for notification of adjoining residents
when re- zonings or Use -by- Exceptions are being considered for approval. Mike Griffin is
preparing the report to show the current code requirements and options that are used by other
cities to notify residents. The report will be presented at a future commission meeting.
Storm Water Master Plan A request was made at the last commission meeting for the staff to
prepare a short article summarizing the Storm Water Master Plan for the City's web page along
with a reference about where residents can obtain a copy. This has been completed.
Green Initiatives; Staff was tasked at the last meeting with preparing another short article for
the City's web page outlining all of the actions taken by the City that could collectively come
under the heading of "green initiatives ". At the time of the writing of this report, several staff
members are preparing lists of green initiatives so that that can be consolidated into one article.
We expect to have this completed within the next couple of weeks.
