SUBJECT: City Mana is Report
Workload, Draft Strategic Planning Report and Funding for Visioning Project
Preparation of the draft budget for the upcoming fiscal year is currently the main focus of several top staff members
and will continue to take considerable time for the next six weeks. A draft of the Strategic Plan Report will
probably not be available for the Commission to review for several weeks. Some of the items from the strategic
plan discussions are currently being priced for budget estimates so that they can be included in the draft budget.
However, one item may need the Commission's attention and action prior to a draft budget and the strategic plan
report; the Visioning Project. We agreed that this should be completed in time to be discussed at the 2013 strategic
planning workshops. Other communities have reported taking as long as 8 months to complete. If Atlantic Beach's
project takes the same amount of time, then it should be started prior to the beginning of the October 1, 2012 fiscal
year. If the Commission agrees, a budget estimate will be prepared for consideration as a mid -year budget
adjustment within the next few weeks.
