I also informed her that at the bottom of the sheet she should have been given it states that customer must supply own backflow preventer. Donna, per our discussion last week, a more detailed sentence regarding hiring of a plumber will now be printed on all future permits. Ms. Woodruff seemed satisfied with that and I am now researching a problem she is having with a water heater that was installed without a permit at her residence. I spoke to Chris about her first issue today before lunch and he was going by her house to see if he can do anything to appease her. Ms. Woodruff just called again, saying she is going to contact Ken Amaro, the newspaper, and the Mayor. She also said she will be calling Nelson and/or Jeri to discuss the issue further. She was upset because she was not advised that she needed to contact a plumber to connect her irrigation meter and did not know to do so. She received a bill for both the meter, plus her normal water bill was high, as the irrigation was still coming off of the normal meter. She had asked for an adjustment for both the meter and the high bill, and Joyce had explained to her that water was used, and the irrigation meter installed, and therefore a credit could not be issued. Ms. Woodruff also complained that nobody advised her there was a monthly charge for the irrigation meter. I called Jenny, who advised that each quote has a notice to the customer that they must contact a plumber. However, the day Ms. Woodruff came in to pay for a meter, Jenny was out and the person at the desk sent Ms. Woodruff to Public Works. We advised Ms. Woodruff that we could not take her money here, but nobody at City Hall knew how to process her payment, so she went home. When she returned a couple days later she did not get a normal quote form, but a handwritten receipt, with no instructions for contacting a plumber. Ms. Woodruff complained at great length about how poor this service was, and how the City should not be reliant on one person to know how to handle things at the front desk, and how she should not have been sent to a "work" building where her safety could be compromised. She also complained that it took too long to get her meter installed (she said 2 weeks--I can't tell from the service order, but we are backed up), and the location of the meter. Chris explained to her that he could not install the meter between the 2 driveways, as there are already 2 existing meters and cleanouts there. Based on my past experience, the contents of this report, and the calculations performed, the proposed structure is adequate to resist 100 mph wind and gravity load forces in accordance with current applicable building code criteria provided that the following comments and recommendations are properly considered: 1) The fascia and roof framing members of the existing structure must be inspected. The fascia must be properly secured to the ends of the roofing framing members prior to anchoring the channel the will receive the proposed 4", R19, roof panels. Obtain from the engineer of record means of reinforcing the existing attachment, if necessary, between the existing fascia and roof framing members. Also, the spacing of#10 wood screws into the fascia must not exceed 9-1/2" on centers. 2) The maximum spacing of the wall bearing 2"x3"x.050" posts must be limited to 5'-l" as noted under item"D" of the Design/Component Selection sheet. An elevation showing the desired location of these posts, similar to the side elevation submitted, would be helpful. The post attachment to the 1"x 2" open back bottom plate, using (2) #10 x 1-1/2" S.M.S. screws is inadequate for uplift. Unlike the top connection of the post, the bottom connection lacks the shear #10 S.M.S. screw.
