In Recognition of 2012 Teacher of the Year
Cindy Steeg -Diaz
WHEREAS, Cindy Steeg -Diaz, has distinguished herself through her dedication to her craft and her students and has
been named 2012 Teacher of the Year for Atlantic Beach Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, Cindy Steeg -Diaz has been teaching students in Duval County for the past 29 years, serving the last eight
at Atlantic Beach Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, Cindy Steeg -Diaz fills many roles, as a listener, explorer, role model, motivator and mentor; and
WHEREAS, Cindy Steeg Diaz helps her students to develop and reach their goals while recognizing that each student
is an individual with different needs for growth and success; and
WHEREAS, Cindy Steeg Diaz strives to instill a love of learning in and out of the classroom by taking her students on
a trip to Blue Springs, Florida every year to observe and learn about manatees; and
WHEREAS, teachers like Cindy Steeg Diaz are charged every day with the most important work of creating our
City's future citizens and workforce and this is an opportunity to recognize the "best of the best" in their profession; and
WHEREAS, Cindy Steeg Diaz, like so many of her fellow teachers, go to work each and every day to make a
difference in the lives of our children. Not only does she bring a level of dedication and commitment, she makes it
possible for her students to commit to and achieve their own dreams for the future; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that Cindy Steeg -Diaz be recognized for her dedication and commitment to educating
our children.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, hereby
expresses their sincere appreciation to Cindy Steeg Diaz for her commitment to education, learning and Atlantic Beach's
students and on behalf of the citizens of Atlantic Beach extend heartfelt gratitude and best wishes for continued success
and happiness in the future.
