In order for me to have it done to Code, I would like to know if you can answer these questions for me. The 3/4 inch hole-was that in the brick lining or in a steel lining. If it is steel and the hole in the liner can be welded shut (closed)-does that solve the problem.? As you can tell, I am nor sure where the hole is and in what kind of material we are talking about. The fireplace was never a gas fireplace that was converted to a wood burning fireplace. From the very outset it was a wood burning fireplace. I don't know if a copy of the plans for the unit regarding the installation is on file with City indicating what manufacture product was use for the installation. THERE IS A 3/411 HOLE IN THE FIREBOX THAT WILL ALLOW FLAMES TO PASS THROUGH TO SUPPORT FRAMING.
