Masonry through wall flashing and weepholes are required per section 1403.1.4.1 and shall be provided and inspected to meet the following requirements: Section 1403.1.4.1 — Flashing and weepholes as outlined in section 2111.1.3 shall be located in the fust course of masonry above finished ground level about the foundation wall or slab, and other points of support, including structural floors, shelf angels and lintels when anchored veneers are designed in accordance with section 1403.2.4, 1403:2.5 and 1403.2.6. St. Johns County Note: Flashings and weepholes are required in areas such as: the heads of windows and doors, as well as the first course of masonry above finished ground level. Flashing around windows and doors is required per section 1403.1.4 and shall be provided and inspected using the following guidelines.- Section uidelines:Section 1403.1.4 — Flashing shall be provided as necessary to prevent the entrance of water at openings in and projections through veneered walls. Flashing shall be provided at intersections of veneered walls of different materials unless such materials provide a self-flashing joint and at other points subject to the entrance of water. Caulking shall be provided where such flashing is determined by the Building Official to be impractical. Flashing shall be accomplished.in the following manner: A. Flashing shall be provided per ASTM 2112 "Standard Practice for Installation of Exterior Windows, Doors and Skylights". See attached drawings for guidance. The pen-nit drawings shall indicate the method of choice. B. If a self-flashing window is to be provided, the permit submission shall include the manufacturer's installation instructions and shall state the wnrdow is designed as a self- flashing window. The window installation shall be inspected in strict accordance with manufacturer's instructions. C. All other flashing methods designed as an alternate shall be clearly detailed on the design drawings at the time of plan review and shall demonstrate proper lapping of the flashing so the water drainage is down and to the exterior. Based on the input of the professionals involved in the formulation of this bulletin, the BOAF First Coast Chapter Codes & Standards Committee recommends that the following "best practice procedures" be followed to facilitate the installation of window flashings: 1. The moisture/infiltration barrier and sill flashing should be installed prior to the installation of the windows and subsequent remaining flashing applications. 2. Screws with profile heads, which will allow verification under the flashing, or other approved. manufacturer screws, may be utilized for securing the windows to facilitate inspections if approved by local jurisdictions. 3.
