Dear Mr. Brown:
Based on a site visit in April of 2013, we understand that the existing sand below the foundation
area on the Oceanside of the residence may have eroded over time and has left a void beneath the
front edge of the slab-on-grade foundation. We recommend forming the edge of the slab (taking
care to brace the forms to prevent a blow-out) and grout below the existing slab to provide
continuous proper bearing. To prevent future erosion and to obtain a structural form, we suggest
placing the form a minimum embedment depth of 2'-0"below the existing grade.
