None of the trees in the interior zone are protected. Therefore, the applicant only needs to mitigate for the loss of the 99 of trees in the exterior zone at the rate of 1 inch for every 2 inches removed. This means 49" must be preserved to offset the loss of 99" of trees. Additionally, Section 23.30.1 requires one (1) four inch caliper tree to be planted or preserved for every 2,500 square feet of development parcel area. The lot is 7,500 square feet, which requires three (3) four inch caliper trees. One of these trees shall be in the front yard per code. In summary, a total of 2 of additional trees must be planted or preserved to offset the removal of 99" of protected trees, and three (3) four inch caliper trees must be planted, with one tree in the front yard.
