Re: Local Business Tax Application
Dear Mr. Shanin,
In response to your recent Local Business Tax Application with the City of Atlantic Beach for a new and
used tire shop,we would like to make you aware of a few policies. According to the city's Land
Development Regulations (LDR)your business is approved under Sec. 24-111 (b)(9) as"minor
automotive repair". However,we would like to caution you that the Commercial General (CG) zoning
district that this is in does not allow"heavy automotive repair". Minor automotive repair would include
things like tire removal, oil changes, car washes, battery replacement; while heavy automotive repair
includes any body work or mechanical repairs. We can allow this business to be approved so long as
there is no heavy automotive repair on site. However, if any heavy automotive repairs do happen on
site,our code enforcement officer will take action.
There are other aspects of the LDR that you may want to be aware of. In Sec. 24-154 (a)(2) regarding
outside storage, "...that no storage or display of tires, auto parts,tools, service or repair work is
permitted outdoors,..." Similarly, in Sec. 24-161 (b)(4) regarding parking, "There shall be no sales, service
or business activity of any kind within any parking area."
