Re: Re-Roof Permit 14-00001469 and Siding permit 14-SIDE-322.
Mr. and Mrs. Badii,
I received your letter, dated January 21, 2014, concerning roofing and siding work done on your home by Home
Depot and K&D Roofing respectively.
First, let me comment on some points from you'letter.
One. I did see the roof/wall flashing properly installed, with the EIFS exterior wall covering cut back and
removed to facilitate the flashing installation. As you point out, I did not see, or have the opportunity to inspect,
the reinstallation of the EIFS, including the construction joint between the old and new siding.
Two. Mr. Hile did not refuse to uncover the new siding. After discussing the installation with Mr. Hile,I felt
that the work was done properly, met industry standards, and will provide the weather-resistant wall covering
required by the Building Code. I did not require him to uncover the siding. I based my decision on the facts
that EIFS is a much more flexible product than stucco and easier to patch and that re-opening exterior walls
frequently causes more problems than it solves.
I understand from Home Depot representatives, Quinn Roberts and Tony Wakefield that Home Depot has given
you a ten-year warranty on the siding and a life-time warranty on the roof. As the warranty was the last issue
with this project, I have approved the Final Inspections for both Building Permits. Please know that I would not
approve this project if I were not confident that you have a good job.
Please feel free to contact me, if you have any further questions. (904) 247-5813
Respectfully,
Dan Arlington, CBO
