(SENATE BILL NO. 812)
AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 5, CHAPTER 57-1126, LAYS OF
FLORIDA, SPECIAL ACTS OF 1957, THE SAME BEING AN ACT
ENTITLED: "AN ACT TO INCORPORATE THE CITY OF ATLANTIC
BEACH, FLORIDA, IN DUVAL COUNTY, AND TO PROVIDE FOR
ITS GOVERNMENT AND PRESCRIBE ITS JURISDICTION, PCMERS,
PRIVILEGES AND IMMUNITIES, AND TO ABOLISH THE
MUNICIPALITY OF THE TON OF ATLANTIC BEACH."
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA:
Section 1. That Section 5 of Chapter 57-1126, Laws of Florida,
Special Acts of 1957, entitled:
"An Act to incorporate the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, in
Duval County, and to provide for its government and prescribe its juris-
diction, powers, privileges and immunities, and to abolish the present
municipality of the Town of Atlantic Beach",
be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows:
SECTION 5. NUMBER, SELECTION, TERM:
The City Commission shall consist of five (5) electors of the City
of Atlantic Beach, who have the qualifications as defined in Section 6,
Article II of this charter, elected at large. The seats shall be known
as Seats 1 to 5, respectively, and Seat 1 shall be designated as Mayor-
Commissioner, and they shall hold office for the terms respectively as
hereinafter stated: Seat 1, Mayor-Commissioner, shall be elected for
two-year terms; in the 1961 primary and general Municipal elections Seats
2 and 3 shall be elected for a two-year term and Seats ii and 5 shall be
elected for a four-year term, thereafter Seats 2, 3, I and 5 shall be
elected for four-year terms.
Section 2. This Act shall take effect immediately upon its pas-
sage and approval by the Governor, or upon becoming a law without such
approval.
