Project : Atlantic Beach, FL The contractor has informed Lou Pontigo and Associates that some of the nails used for the roof sheathing nailing have been over driven. Per the APA bulletin TT-012, Effect of Overdriven Fasteners on Shear Capacity, if the below condition is met, then there is no reduction in shear capacity, and no additional nailing required. a) If all nails are over driven by up to 1/16" max during construction under dry conditions (moisture content less than 16%). If the nails are overdriven by more than 1/16", then the contractor shall install one additional nail for every two overdriven nails. Additional nailing shall be spaced 3" min from existing nail.
