Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, September 12, 2013
Adele Grage Cultural Center
6:00 p.m.
Present: Chair Lori Gaglione, Lou Catania,Jolyn Johnson,Tammy Lally, Hollie Stephens,Jeff Wight,Cris
Garrard,Wanda Martin and Timmy Johnson. Excused: Lynne Roskein
1. Call to order—Chair Lori Gaglione called the meeting to order at 4:02 pm.
2. Approval of Meeting Minutes—The committee reviewed the July 23, 2013 minutes. Lou
noted that the minutes should reflect the he was present at the meeting. Tammy motioned
to accept the minutes with the change and Wanda seconded the motion. The minutes were
unanimously approved.
3. AITP Poster Art Selection—Timmy informed the committee that six photos have been placed
on the table and the committee is to vote on the one they would like to see used for the AITP
poster.
4. Ongoing Business
a. Events, Updates, Reports
i. Songwriters'&Acoustic Nights—Timmy reported there was a full house
with great music Songwriters'event. The Acoustic event had to be moved
inside because of the rain and a number of people had to be turned away.
ii. Artisans' Faire—Timmy reported that he would put together a list of things
to do and would like for the committee to volunteer for a particular area.
Lynne will handle the artists. Lori would take care of the decorations. If
anyone would like to invite an artist please let Timmy or Lynne know.
iii. Tennis Championship—Lori stated that she would have a report at the next
meeting. We need to set a date in the spring for the tournament.
iv. Atlantic Beach is Special—Lou reported that he is working with the University of Florida
Department of Public Health to get the survey out. He also spoke with Mayor Elect
Carolyn Woods and she likes the program but sees it as a nonprofit sponsored program.
Timmy is trying to set up a meeting with the Principal at Neptune Beach Elementary to
discuss the program. Timmy suggested that the committee make a motion to support
the program as a committee event or not. The committee discussed not supporting the
program as a committee event because of the lack of resources. Tammy motioned to
support the Atlantic Beach Special Program as a contracted city event instead of a
committee event; Lori seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
5. New Business
a. AITP application review—Timmy reported that the AITP application is complete
and will go out October 1. Timmy also explained the event process.
b. AITP refund application—Timmy suggested that the committee vote on whether
or not to issue refunds to those artist not accepted into the AITP event. Tammy
motioned not to issue a refund to those artists not accepted into the AITP
event;Jolyn seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
c. Judging of artists'submission for AITP Poster—The committee approved art
submitted by Tonsenia Yonn for the AITP poster.
d. AITP—Jolyn motioned to be the coordinator of the Arts in the Park event. Lou
seconded. The committee discussed the motion and request that Jolyn bring a
proposal to the next meeting detailing who would assist with the event and the
benefits of one person coordinating the event. Lou withdrew his second and
Jolyn withdrew the motion.
e. Dance& Fitness Program—Wanda presented a proposal to coordinate dance
and fitness classes at Jordan Park. Jeff motioned to support and fund the event
for 6 months. Tammy seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
6. Other Agenda Items/Announcements
a. Next meeting—September 24, 2013
7. Adjournment—With no further business,Tammy motioned to adjourn the meeting; Cris
seconded and the motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 5:04 p.m.
