Meeting Minutes
Tuesday,April 28, 2015
Adele Grage Cultural Center
Present: Lou Catania, Grant Healy, Nick Malie, Pamela White, Martha Marshall, Robert Liggero,
Charlise Goodbread, Timmy Johnson (City Liaison)and Julie Metheney(City liaison).
Absent: Sheena Rupert
1. Call to order-Vice Chair called the meeting to order at 6:11 pm
2. Approval of Meeting Minutes-Robert motioned and Nick seconded to approve the minutes of
March 24,2015. The minutes were unanimously approved.
2. Welcome new committee members- Charlise Goodbread
3. Ongoing Business
a. Budget-Timmy explained that the deadline for the City's Budget input is April
30th. The committee discussed the budget and decided to increase the
discretionary line item to$8,000; a$4,000 increase. Timmy explained how the
budget was created, i.e.the schools request a donation which is placed in the
budget for approval,the committee decides how much it wants to spend for
events and programs,and then the budget is reviewed by the City Manager and
approved by the City Commission. Nick motioned to approve the budget in the
amount of$58,700; Pam seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
b. Arts in Park- Post Arts in the Park. The winners for Best in Show went to 1st -
Linda Bobinger, 2nd— Michael Miller-Riley,and 3rd—Sarah Martin and Russ
Wilson. Awards/prizes were sent to winners. Linda Bobinger, Sarah Martin and
Russ Wilson will exhibit and be present for Artist reception in June. Michael
Miller-Riley will be out of town in June but wants to reschedule. Feedback- Leave
the number tags to identify slots,volunteers were readily available to assist artists
and guests, do we want to have a rain date, some people suggested cutting hours
to 5 hours versus 8 hours while others asked why the event was not 2 days, cover
or spray roots that are above ground. Artists stated that they made more in the 4
hours than they had in previous years with duration of 8 hours. Due to inclement
weather the event was cancelled at 2:00pm. The weather did not create
additional cost for the committee or city.
c. New Year's Eve-Sheena was not present to discuss. Timmy deferred.
d. Tennis Tournament- Grant presented a brief proposal which he passed out to
everyone. The date of September 26-27 was proposed. The tournament would be
for men and women, 18 and older, singles and doubles, resident or nonresident.
Use all 6 courts, use bracket system. Entry fee of$20-25. Discussed awards and
budget of$800. Julie checked the Jax Beach calendar. lax Beach is having a 5k
run/walk for Pancreatic Cancer and a surfing event, Surfers for Autism on the
morning of Sep 26. September 19-20 may be a better weekend since there are no
other events at the Beaches.

a. Artisan Faire-Change date of Artisan Faire

6. Adjournment-with no further business, Nick moved and Martha seconded the motion to
adjourn the meeting. The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 6:53pm.

The purpose of the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee is to
propose, plan, promote, and review artistic, recreational, and cultural programs,
exhibits, and projects for the citizens of Atlantic Beach. The committee members
are appointed by the City of Atlantic Beach Commission.
