Meeting Minutes
Tuesday,July 28, 2015
Adele Grage Cultural Center
Present: Lou Catania, Grant Healy,Pamela White, Nick Malie, Martha Marshall, Charlise Goodbread,
Jay Wilson, Timmy Johnson and Julie Metheney(City liaison).
Absent: Sheena Rupert(City Liaison)
1. Call to order- Chair called the meeting to order at 6:03 pm
2. Approval of Meeting Minutes-Grant motioned and Martha seconded to approve the minutes of
May 26, 2015. The minutes were unanimously approved.
2. Welcome new committee member-Judy Workman
3. Ongoing Business
a. New Year's Eve-Grant motioned to move event off the agenda; Martha seconded;
unanimously approved.
b. Acoustics Night- It rained so it was moved into the Adele Grage. Songwriters'
concert is on August 30, 6-8 pm.
c. Tennis Tournament- Grant went over the details for preparing for the
tournament. It was decided that 6 courts would be used; it would require at least
15 people to work the tournament; it would also require at least 72 players to sign
up to make the tournament work; flyers and registration forms needed to be
created and sent out.
4. New Business
a. Timmy explained that the funding for Fitness and Character Education (FACE) Inc
program was put into the FY 2015/16 Budget proposal. The money will come out
of the discretionary funds if approved by the commission.
b. Artisan Faire- Pam volunteered to champion the Artisan Faire. Grant made a
motion for the Artisan Faire to be moved to December 3rd. Nick seconded the
motion and the motion was unanimously approved.
c. Kayak Rental- Grant stated to remove the item from the agenda.
d. Kite Contest-The committee discussed having a kite contest. Suggestion was
made that one of the committee members would champion the event and that
member would present a proposal. Suggestion was made to have it in the Fall of
2016,have different categories,and for it to be a juried contest.
e. Photo Contest-The committee discussed having a photo contest for adults and
children. Suggestion was made that one of the committee members would
champion the event and that member would present a proposal. It was also
suggested to select a month to exhibit the photographs at Adele Grage or one of
the community centers.
f. Dog Show-The committee discussed having a dog show. Suggestion was made
that one of the committee members would champion the event and that member
would present a proposal.
g. Bocce courses -Jay made a recommendation to add Bocce courses in and around
Atlantic Beach-Timmy stated that would be a Public Works project.
5. Other Agenda Items/Announcements
a. Next meeting-August 25,2015
6. Adjournment-with no further business, Nick moved and Martha seconded the motion to
adjourn the meeting. The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 6:45pm.
