The area which currently has the passageway into the laundry room is supported by a double 2 x 10 which carries the floor joists for the floor above, using standard joist cups. A request for a 7 foot opening has been received. The opening, as proposed would require an additional 2 x 10 header to transmit the load to the vertical members. Those vertical members should be no less than two jack studs and two king studs,with the remaining studs to be on no more than 16"centers,with a double top plate between the header and the floor joist. Please consider and approve the affore mentioned items as acceptable for this building.
