CULTURAL ARTS and RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH
Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, September 1, 2015
Adele Grage Cultural Center
Present: Grant Healy, Pamela White, Nick Malie, Martha Marshall,Jay Wilson and Julie Metheney(City
liaison).
Absent: Lou Catania, Charlise Goodbread,Judy Workman
1. Call to order-Chair called the meeting to order- 6:15pm
2. Approval of Meeting Minutes-Grant motioned and Martha seconded to approve the minutes of
July 28 and August 12. The minutes were unanimously approved.
2. Ongoing Business
a. Songwriters'concert was on September 6. There was a good turnout. The
Acoustic Night will be held on Sep 27.
b. Tennis Tournament- Grant stated that registration was slow. Since the
committee would meet on Sep 22, he suggested moving the deadline to that day
versus Sep 15. Everyone agreed.
c. Arts in the Park-The committee voted on the art for the poster with reservations.
Linda Bobinger submitted two drawings for the poster and the committee did not
like either one. They chose the drawing with the mother and child going to the
beach with the stipulation that if there were alternative options they would like to
readdress the issue. Pam motioned with the alternative option,Jay seconded and
the motion carried.
3. New Business
a. Grant deferred the Kite and Photo contest until Lou came back.
b. Jay suggested having a Bocce tournament. Everyone thought it was a great idea.
Grant explained to Jay and the committee that Jay needs to put together a
proposal with what,when,where,why,how,and estimated cost to submit to the
committee to vote on.
c. Arts in the Park-No one wanted to commit to chairing this event.
d. Artisan Faire- Pam stated that she is working on obtaining artists for the Artisan
Faire. She came up with 30 artists she was interested in inviting and has narrow
her list down to 11 confirmations to participate in the event.
e. Mayport Middle and Atlantic Beach Elementary Schools - Grant explained the
need for a committee liaison for the schools. No one committed.
f. Marshfest 2015 - Grant explained what Marshfest was and that the committee's
role is to be ambassadors for the event. Several members were interested in
volunteering for an hour or so.
4. Other Agenda Items/Announcements
a. Next meeting-September 22,2015
5. Adjournment-with no further business,Jay moved and Pam seconded the motion to
adjourn the meeting. The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 7:00pm.
