At the last City Commission meeting, the City Commission approved
submission of a grant application to the State Division of Cultural Affairs
for renovations to Adele Grage Cultural Center. We were informed by
DCA's Grant Coordinator that the grant application requires submission
of a resolution approved by the City Commission.
In review, the renovations will include upgrading the sound system,
replacing the seating and window treatments, improving the stage,
creating a small storage facility, signage and adding safety lighting in the
park. The total project cost is approximately $150,000. The grant
request is for $75,000 and the City would match with $75,000 in-kind
service, donations and cash.
The Cultural Facilities Program coordinates and guides the State of
Florida's support and funding of renovation, new construction, or
acquisition of cultural facilities. A cultural facility is a building which
shall be used for the programming, production, presentation exhibition
of any of the arts and cultural disciplines. Including music, dance,
theatre, creative writing, literature, architecture, painting, sculpture,
folk arts, photography, crafts, media arts, visual arts, and programs of
museums.
At least 25% ($35,000 and up to $75,000) of the required match must
be cash-an-hand, dedicated to the project and made available within 90
days of state grant funding notification. ABET has agreed to assist with
fund raising.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
FUNDING ALLOCATION FOR DIVISION OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS CULTURAL
FACILITIES GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, The City of Atlantic Beach is interested in carrying out the following
described projects for the enjoyment of the citizenry of Atlantic Beach and the State of Florida:
Project Title: Renovations to Adele Grage Cultural Center
Total Project Cost: $150,000
Requested City Matching Funds: $35,000 to $75,000
Brief Description of Project: Proposed renovations at Adele Grage Cultural Center
include upgrading the sound system, replacing the seating and window treatments, improving
the stage, creating a small storage facility and adding safety lighting in the park.
AND, Florida Division of Cultural Affairs Cultural Facilities grant assistance is requested
for the program mentioned above,
AND, the City of Atlantic Beach has approved ofthe application submission to the
Division of Cultural Affairs for the amount of $75,000, 50% ofthe total project cost, with a
match from the City of $35,000 to $75,000 and the difference of the project cost being covered
by in-kind services and donations,
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City of Atlantic Beach that the project funding
allocation described above be authorized,
AND, be it further resolved by the City of Atlantic Beach that the funding will be made
available within 90 days of the state grant funding notification to begin the grant period on July
1, 2017.

legally adopted by the Atlantic Beach City Commission at a legal meeting held on this
