BACKGROUND :
The City of At lantic Be ac h receives fundin g for Comm unit y Develop ment Block Gra nt s
(CDBG) admini s te red by th e City of Jacksonville (COJ) on an annua l ba s is. The City ro utin e ly
rece ives funds in an approximate amount of$82,000 each year. Th ese fund s mus t be s pe nt in or
nca r low income communities. Fo r thi s co min g year, after much di scussion with th e COJ, the y
have approved the usc of CDBG fund s for th e fo ll ow ing projects:
I) Donner Park
Swing set installat io n to brin g the park into safety co mpli a nce (and C it y s tandard s) b y
in stalling new swings. In s tallati o n o f engineered wood fiber brings entire pl ayg round
int o ADA accessibility compli ance as well as safe ty standard s.
2) Jorda n Park
In sta ll ation of new pla ygro und brings City int o ADA comp li ance (curre nt o ne is not).
In sta llati on of e ngin eered wood 1iber brings pl ayg rou nd into ADA access ibili ty
co mpliance. In sta ll ation of s hade s tructure will give relief from afternoon s un which is
important s ince trees providing shade will removed due to pot ent ia l haza rd s.

Jordan Park: Shad e $13 ,500
