The C ity of Atlantic Beach receives funding from the F lorida Department of Law E nforcement
on an a nnua l basis. On occasion the r es ult of those grants will be forfeited fund s or propCity.
The city c urrentl y has $4,855 in forfe ited funds that needs to be appropriated and spent in a
consistent fashion as the origina l grant fund s. In an effort to expend those funds
$4,855.00 will be spent on a Dru g Terminator II Ov. The drug tenninator i s designed for safe a nd
efficient disposa l of confiscated drugs. T he crime s uppression unit is responsible for the lawful
destruction of narco ti cs when a court order is issued to destroy the m. This is specificall y
designed for the safe, efficient, legal and ceo-friendly destruction of s uch it e ms .
BUDGET: Adopting Ordinance No. 20-16-1 39 creates the budget necessary to expend the
fund s for the grant. There arc no match in g fund s required by the grant.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve Ordinance 20-16-139

WHEREAS, the City Charter of the City of Atlantic Beach requires that the City
Commission approve all budgetary increases and transfers at the fund level, and
WHEREAS, the nature of budgetary systems and those day-to-day decisions affecting
such budgetary systems require adjustments from time-to-time, and
WHEREAS, the City is amending the operating budget to add net revenue totaling
$4,855 and net expenses totaling $4,855 for the FDOT Grant Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION ON
BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, that;

PGI funds from this 2014 grant have not been spent previously. $4855 will be spent for the
purchase of a Drug Terminator for the Crime Suppression Unit to destroy narcotics per
court destruction order.
