Re: Deck Framing Modifications
Mason Residence
Job Number 15-10-0185
Dear Todd,
During construction of the above referenced deck structure, several modifications were made in the field The following is a
compilation of the changes
1 The large footing labeled B on the plan was intended to carry two columns. the large 6x6 for the second level deck
and a 4x4 for the middle stair landing. The 4x4 was not installed Instead a 2x10 block was fastened to the 6x6, the
perimeter landing board was fastened to the block with (8)fasteners. The connection requires a minimum(5) 10d
nails from block to post and from joist to block or equivalent screws
2 The middle landing south perimeter beam is fastened to the west perimeter beam with 5 fasteners which go into the
end grain of the west beam End grain connections are not sufficient. Add an A35 on the inside face of the
connection
3 Post to beam connections were designed with LCE brackets. Instead, posts were notched and beams set in They
are connected with one unknown fastener Add an A35 on the inside face of the connection
4 The lower end of the stringers at the middle landing were designed to bear fully in the landing. They are notched
instead. This is not a problem I could not see how they are attached; thus, they should be exposed for review
5 The upper deck is covered Cannot verify any of the connections, joist sizes or spacing. This will need to be exposed
for verification.
6 The middle landing beams were designed as (2)2x6, but it was installed as a single 2x10. This is acceptable
7 The top connection of the stringer is not visible, but does not look like the detail. I cannot tell how it is connected This
needs to be exposed for verification.
8 The posts were designed to be anchored with ABUs. None are visible, so they should also be exposed for
verification.

Re: Framing Modifications
Martin Residence
Job Number 15-10-0144
Dear Todd,
During construction of the above referenced structure, several modifications were made in the field. The following is a
compilation of the changes.
1. The middle kitchen window will not be installed. The wall should be framed like the typical wall section.
2. The wall between the kitchen and pool patio originally included two 6'sliders and two 3'center windows. The two
middle windows are now one 6'slider. The middle column may be removed. The remaining stud packs must extend
directly up to the LVL.
Please call if you have additional questions.
Sincerely,
VIA
