Present: Grant Healy, Lou Catania, Nick Malie, Pamela White,Jay Wilson, and Faye Wood, Timmy

1. Call to order- Chair called the meeting to order-6:00 pm
2. Approval of Special Meeting Minutes from April 19,2016-Nick made motion;Jay seconded the
motion; all committee members in favor
3. Three visitors attended the meeting:Ann Marie Tucker-Turkey Trot,Adam took part in
Turkey Trot,and Beverly Norman interested in joining the committee.
4. New Business
a. Ann Marie Tucker-Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot contribution request
1. Slideshow presented of event
2. Booklet w/local testimonials presented
3. Started event when father (retired police officer)was hit by a drunk
driver
4. Contributions help support brain injury patients and families who
can't afford medical;generating awareness of brain injuries
5. Charity family event without alcohol
6. Face painting,over 400 participants 2015-anticipate double this year
7. Thanksgiving day-early morning 5k run/walk
8. Profit 501c3
9. Walk&run around Pete's Bar
10.7:30-9:00 am
11.One Ocean&Trader Joe's sponsoring this year
12.Cost to run event-$8000
13.$25 to enter-$10 goes to organization; military discount
14.Open to everyone
15.Park @ Kmart-no problems last year
16.Police presence
17.Roads need to be blocked for participants
Request put to motion by Nick,Jay seconded the motion; funds to come out of CARAC
discretionary account-all in favor except Lou questioned administrative fees

1. Songwriters&Acoustic Night-Grant Healey
a. attended Acoustic Night wonderful turn out,seemed about 200
people;worthwhile event
2. Bocce Ball-Jay Wilson
a. June 11th between 18&19 Streets
b. 20 teams
c. Need committee members to solicit for sponsors
i. Timmy Johnson to give list of past sponsors
ii. No tiers of sponsorship
iii. $200-$300 recommended
d. Can have sponsors do in memory of
i. Concern of getting the word out
ii. Will be put on website,Facebook,flyers should be
posted by members,media coverage
e. Discussion of where money goes-hoping to break even
i. Cover registration,materials,sets,t-shirts,welcome
bags,signs
f. Sports ngin-middleman
g. Lou-wanted clarification on demographics of the event
i. All ages welcome
3. Arts in the Park
a. Request face painters for kids-a must for next year
b. Survey going out to artists for input for next year
c. Suggestion for next year given by mayor-classic cars
d. Food trucks great addition
e. Artists well pleased
f. Very organized;wonderful job
g. Concern of not enough visual art,more crafts
h. Suggestion that committee members attend other art festivals
and get business cards to contact artists for next year's event
6. Committee Update
a. Meeting with Commissioner Stinson
i. Suggest committee going to 7 members with 2 alternates (can't vote),which
reduces quorum to 4 members
ii. Thursday interviews for new members
iii. Lou termed out,Grant not returning end of July when term ends
7. Budget-Timmy Johnson
i. Review amounts
ii. Only accounts with flexibility are Discretionary,Advertising&Mailings
8. Adjournment-with no further business,Nick moved for adjournment Jay seconded the motion
to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
