Dear Bill,
On May 4, 2016, AGC provided this solution for adding a 3" hole in the three ply 2x10 joists:
Apply a 2x10x2'-0" scab to the face of the 3-ply beam with (2) rows of 10d nails at 3" o.c. The hole must
be centered vertically and horizontally on the scab.
This repair was overly sufficient for the 3" hole. It is acceptable that the hole be up to 4" in diameter. Nothing
further is required.

During construction of the above referenced structure, the plumber required holes in existing joists. The holes
were as shown on the attached document. I have performed a location analysis on each joist and confirm it is
acceptable for the joists to have holes drilled as shown.

Dear Bill,
During construction of the above referenced structure, the following questions arose:
1. Need detail for extending existing floor joists. Add a 2x10x14'-0" scab to one side of the existing joists
and fasten with (2) rows of SDW22300 screws,or equivalent,at 24" o.c. Use an LUS210-2 to fasten to
beam filler.
2. Need to drill a 3" hole in the 3-ply beam for plumbing. Apply a 2x10x2'-0" scab to the face of the 3-ply
beam with (2) rows of 10d nails at 3" o.c.The hole must be centered vertically and horizontally on the
scab.
