5.3.2 All Owens Coming hip & ridge shingles and Starter Strip Plus noted herein am Classified in
accordance with FBC:Tables 1507.2.7.1 and R905.2.6.1 to ASTIVI D3161, Claw F, Indicating the
shingles am acceptable for us in all wind zones up to V� = 150 mph (VuR = 194 mph). Refer
to Section 6 for installation mquirements to meet this wind rating.
5.3.3 Classification by ASTM D7158 applies to exposure category B or C and a building height of 60
feet or less. Calculations by a qualified design professional am required for conditions outside
these limitations. Contact the shingle manufaLturer for data specific to each shingle.
5.3.4 Refer to Owens Coming published information on wind resistance and Installation limitations.
5.4 All products In the roof assembly shall have quality assurance audit in accordance with the
Florida Building Code and F.A.C. Rule 9N-3.
6. XNSTALLATiroN:
6.1 Underlayment:
6.1.1 � Underlayment shall be acceptable to Owens Coming and shall hold current Florida Statewide
Product Approval, or be Locally Approved per Rule 9N-3, per FBC Sections 1507.2.j, 1507.2.4
or R905.2.3.
6.2 Asphaft Shingles;
6.2.1 Installation of asphalt shingles shall comply with the manufacturer's current published
instructions, using minimum four(4) nails per shingle In accordance with FSC Sections 1507.2
or R905.2, with the following exceptions:
BerkshimO shingles require minimum five (5)nails per shingle.
• WeatherGuardO HP shingles require minimum six (6) nails per shingle.
• Starter Strip Plus requires minimum five (5) nails per strip.
Refer to Owens Coming published Information on wind resistance and Installation limitations.
6.2.2 Fasteners shall be In accordance with the manufacturerFs published requirements, but not less
than FBC 1507.2.6 or R905.2.5. Staples am not permitted.
6.2.4 Where the roof slope exceeds 21 units vertical in 12 units horizontal, special methods of
fastening am required. Contact the shingle manufacturer for details.

of the Accredited Quality Assurance Agency noted herein.
7.2 Asphalt shingle wrappers shall Indicate compliance with one of the required classifications
detailed in F8C Table 1507.2.7.1/R905.2.6.1.

This NOA is being issued under the applicable niles and regulations governing the we ofconstruction materials.The
documentation submitted has been reviewed and accepted by Miami-Diale County RER-Product Control Section to be
wed in Miami Dade County and other areas;where allowed by the Authority Having Jurisdiction(AHJ).
This NOA shall not be valid after the expiration date stated below.The Miami-Dade County Product Control Section
(In Mimi Dade County)and/or the AHJ(in arew other than Miami Dade County)resserve the right to have this
product or material tested for quality assurance purposes.If this product or material fails to perform in the accepted
manner, the manufacturer will incur the expense of such testing and the AHJ my immediately revoke,modify,or
suspend the me ofsuch product or material within theirjurisdiction. RER reserves the right to revoke this acceptance,
if it is determined by Mimi-Dade County Product Control Section that this product or material fails in hiect the

Cutout:
1. Determine whether the rafters are truss or ridgepole
construction. Cut sheathing 2"(truss)or 3-1/2"(ridge
pole)wide slot(1"truss or 1-3/4"ridge pole oneach side)
of the ridge(s). A minimum of 6'mwt be left-cut on
each aid of the ridge. Once the slot is cut and my
overlapping'shingles covering the ridge are trimmed and
removed,the ridge is ready for vent installation.
Installation:
2. place the Vent Sum Ridge Vent or Vent Sum Rigid
Roll vent,muted side do�along entire length of slot also
covering the 6"mommum uncut ridge on both ends.
Multiple lengths;of vent can be joined by butting than
together.
3. Pull apart a T'or 5-1/4'precut section of the floarn endcap.
Using construction adhesive or sealant caulk,insert the
godicap into the aid of the vent Using four(4)2"
galvanized moding nails,attach vent to the mof deck by
driving a nail in each of the two comers on both ends of the
vent,and.a naifat each side through the foarn cap.
4. Aftcrventhas been installed,cut ridge shingles,preform,
and nail with roofing nails in it common overlapping
pattern. Nails should be approxinnatelY 5"apart and long
the wood roof deck at least W'. Repeat
enough to penetrate
this procedure until vents have beat installed ova all mof
ridges.
