Dear Sir/Madam,
Problem: Excess dust and dirt coming out of AC vents when unit in use
10/28/09 Called Mr. Sapia and told him ducts needed to be cleaned
11/5/09 Called Mr. Sapia and told him ducts needed to be cleaned
11/9/09 Mr. Sapia said AC problem was being dealt with
11/13/09 Mr. Sapia came to house with AC technician without giving us any notice.
Mr. Sapia later called and said AC tech would arrive in 11/16/09
11/16/09 AC tech did not show up
11/18/09 AC tech came to clean AC. Informed us he was not setup to clean ducts
11/19/09 Called Mr. Sapia.He said it was expensive to clean ducts,but he would find
somebody to do it.
12/01/09 River City Duct Cleaning came to clean ducts,but the tech did not clean
ducts,he sat in the attic. After tech left,we called Mr.Sapia and informed him that
the company did not do the proper job. We also let him know there was another
company that would clean the ducts for$475. Later that day, Mr. Sapia called and
said he spoke with the regional manager and River City Duct Cleaning would be back
on 12/03/09 to clean the ducts. Later that day,Mr. Sapia called and said he would be
busy on 12/03 and wanted to move appointment to 12/04/09.
12/04/09 Mr. Sapia came to house but River City Duct Cleaning did not show up.
After research,we found out this company is not a licensed company
The following week, Mr Carter from Indoor Comfort acme to house but said he did
not actually clean ducts. He said they could cut a hole in the plenum and use a fan to
suck out dirt and blow compressed air into ducts. He also said with the grease from
the kitchen,it would not solve the problem,the only remedy would be to change the
ducts. HE also suggested putting cheesecloth over the vent registers to stop the dust.
So we installed cheesecloth as recommended.
1/2/10 Mr. Sapia left voicemail to ask how cheesecloth was working
1/4/10 We returned call to Mr. Sapia to say the cheesecloth wasn't working. We told
him we had spoken with a few experts and that there is a remedy. Mr. Sapia said he
was not willing to spend$3500 to change ducts. He tried to make excuses, saying the

problem was because we have a dog and that we live close to the beach,and that we
need to change the unit filter. We also informed him that the unit filter was the wrong
side of the problem and that an air filter on the unit would not stop the dirt coming out
of the vents that was inside the ducts. At the end of the conversation Mr.Sapia asked
for the phone number of the company who had agreed to clean ducts for$475.
1/6/09 Mr.Sapia left message to say that McGowan would come to house on 1/7/09
1/7/09 McGowan tech came to house and said cleaning ducts was not a good remedy
and would not solve problem,the only way to fix it would be to replace ducts and
plenum. Mr. Sapia again said he would not pay to replace ducts and plenum.
